Meet a Maiden: Maiden MN features Epitome founder

Maiden MN is a charitable shopping event that will be held in Minneapolis on Nov 6, 2015 from 2-9 pm. They recently featured yours truly about what it's like to be an entrepreneur in Minneapolis.

Where Luxury meets Results

This week, we asked the founder of Epitome Skincare, Nicole Mulder, to share her story and the importance of clean, multi-tasking skincare. Bringing you luxury products for every aspect of your skin without the overwhelming look of a cluttered vanity of endless bottles.

What inspired you to start Epitome Skincare?

I've spent nearly 20 years in the salon/spa and beauty industry in many different capacities. And I listened, for years, to consumers and retailers who were looking for a product line that could meet their needs with a smaller number of products. They wanted simplicity, yet with powerful results. And I wanted to have a line that was fashionable and fun, yet with clean and eco-friendly formulas and practices. I took all of that and set out to create the epitome of all the product lines.

The timing was right; it couldn't have been better. Advancements in science + technology allow Epitome chemists to formulate multi-tasking products that work with many different skin types, so there's less need to have so many products. We couldn't have made these kinds of products 10 years earlier.

What is your favorite part about running a business in Minnesota?

The entrepreneurial spirit in MN is alive and well! Running a business here puts me in the midst of some talented, smart, hard-working entrepreneurs. Sometimes I feel like I'm sitting at the table with the cool kids. And everyone is super generous and willing to share.

Another advantage we have here is the vast educational resources available (most at no cost,) especially in the Twin Cities. Three to look for: SCORE, MN Cup, Twin Cities Startup Week.

What's your favorite product? Why?

That's a hard one! Since Lash & Brow Enhancing Serum is still the #1 seller, I'd have to mention that. Otherwise, the Amino-Lift Peptide Complex. It has a cult following who call it "The Magic Potion." I love that.

Is there anything new in the works that we should be excited about?

Yes! Watch for new products in the bath & body category.

When you aren't working, what can you be found doing?

Music, theater and the arts are a big part of my life. I play the piano every day. My husband, John, often joins me on the drums. I also take my roles of being a wife, mom, sister, daughter, cousin, relative, and friend very seriously so I'm probably hanging out with someone I have one of those relationships with.
